Speech & Voice Therapy
If your speech is difficult to understand due to slurring, vocal strain, sounds coming out incorrectly, etc., individualized tools, strategies, and exercises can help you improve the clarity of your speech and, thus, increase your confidence for communication. We specialize in the treatment of dysarthria, apraxia of speech, and a number of voice conditions.

Language/Aphasia Therapy
If you have difficulty speaking ("finding" words, making sentences, etc.), writing, reading, or understanding others, you may benefit from language therapy. Your treatment plan will include tools, strategies, and evidence-based exercises personalized to what you want to read, discuss, write, etc. We specialize in the assessment and treatment of aphasia due to stroke/brain injury as well as primary progressive aphasia (PPA).

Cognitive Rehabilitation
If you are experiencing changes in your thinking such as slowed processing speed, increased forgetfulness, and decreased attention, cognitive therapy is likely to benefit you. Intervention is tailored specifically to meet your unique needs and goals. Whether your thinking changes are due to a brain injury, stroke, dementia, or other condition, cognitive therapy will increase your independence in daily tasks and activities you enjoy.

Alternative & Augmentative Communication
If using your own speech to communicate is difficult or tiresome, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) may be a good fit for you! We specialize in personalized evaluations for dedicated speech-generating devices (funded by insurance) for a number of vendors including Tobii-Dynavox, Control Bionics, Prentke Romich, Smartbox, and Lingraphica. We also specialize in "no/low-tech" AAC solutions (e.g., communication books/boards) and other tools including SpeechVive for Parkinson's Disease-related speech problems, smartphone/tablet apps, etc.

Swallowing Rehabilitation
If eating and drinking are challenging for you after a stroke, brain injury, or other acquired condition, you may benefit from swallowing therapy. Individualized exercises and strategies will make your swallowing safer and more efficient so that you can enjoy your favorite foods and drinks. When necessary, we may recommend a referral for a special swallow test at a medical center to visualize your swallow so we know how to best help you.

Accent Modification
Everyone has an accent, and accents are not a speech disorder; however, accents can sometimes make it hard to talk with other people. People may not understand your accent and/or may focus more on your accent than on what you say. With hard work and practice guided by a specialist, you can modify your accent so you can be understood better. We specialize in accent modification for individuals who are non-native English speakers.
