Q: How do I know if I'm a good candidate for therapy?
A: We will schedule a phone consultation so your therapist can gather information about your medical history, specific needs and concerns, and ultimately assess candidacy for speech pathology services. This brief phone consultation is free of charge.

Q: What will our therapy sessions be like?
A: The first session will be an evaluation. This will be conducted in your home* or via telehealth and lasts ~60 minutes. Your therapist will collect a thorough case history (i.e., client/family interview, medical records, etc.), conduct informal and standardized assessment measures, collaborate with you (& your family) to set functional treatment goals. Your therapist will then write a comprehensive report including findings, results, impressions, and our plan of care. If you'd like to proceed with therapy, sessions are 30-60 minutes long and typically occur 1x/week up to 3x/week. Both the duration and frequency of sessions are based on your specific needs. We also provide an individualized home program to complete between sessions.

*Call/email to discuss whether in-home therapy is an option depending on your location.

Q: How long will I need to receive treatment?
A: The length of time it takes to treat depends on several factors. Our goal is to provide therapy to help you reach your optimal communication and/or cognitive abilities as soon as possible. The client and/or caregiver's willingness to work outside of therapy sessions will facilitate graduation from care sooner rather later. Occasionally, we may request consults with other professionals such as ear-nose-throat doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, neuropsychologists, etc., to address underlying concerns which may impact the client's progress.

Q: Will health insurance pay for our sessions?
A: Probably! We are in network with several insurance plans. If you have traditional Medicare + a supplement plan, you are good to go! When we are out-of-network with your insurance provider, we will happily provide you with a superbill to file with insurance for possible reimbursement. We highly recommend you contact your insurance provider before our evaluation to learn about your speech therapy benefits and out-of-network reimbursement. We are happy to assist you with this process if desired.

Q: Do you accept private pay?
A: Yes, we accept private pay. We accept cash, credit/debit cards, checks, and FSA/HSA cards. Please contact us to inquire about specific evaluation and treatment rates, as they vary with type of treatment. All private pay clients will receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) at the time of your initial evaluation. This will give you the best estimate of the cost of treatment. (More information on the No Surprises Act and GFEs can be found here: https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises)

Q: Do you offer telehealth services?
A: Yes! We are able to see patients across the state of Tennessee via HIPAA-secure telehealth.

Q: Where is your clinic located for in-person services?
A: We are a virtual clinic. If you live within 10 miles of Joelton, TN (37080), we will happily come to your home for sessions or at an agreed-upon community location. A travel fee may be applicable if you live outside of this radius.

Q: What are your hours?
A: We offer non-traditional hours that are convenient for those who work and/or have daytime commitments. We see patients Monday - Friday from 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM and on weekends from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
